Why Is A Raven Like A Writing Desk?

I have always had a thing for blackbirds, crows, raven, etc. When I was around ten years old, I got really into Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven, still being among my favorite poems. Birds with black feathers have inspired songs, prose, stories, thoughts, all sorts of stuff. They are ministers of veiled mysteries. Their caws can be disquieting, alarming, eerie, obtrusive, it can quicken us toward all celestial things. They are mischievously brilliant with knife-like beaks and sharps claws. They are witty and quick, unapologetic. Scavengers. Thought to carry omens of illness, misfortune and death.
There is also a great story in Greek mythology where Apollo turns the raven black, it was white before. But when it arrives with bad news Apollo changes the feathers to black.

Right as Rain.

I am so happy that it's raining today! Finally summer is over! It's a gorgeous gray day outside. I just absolutely love LOVE love the rain. I find it very romantic, inspiring, cleansing, refreshing, magical, fun to play in, fun to gaze out my window at and exciting to get caught in. I just want to go outside and dance a thank you ballet to the clouds. It has been so hot and this welcome relief calls for sweaters and boots. Two items I have been dying to wear. You could say I am feeling right as rain.
