Such A Woman.

I seem to have this ever growing obsession with french actresses. They are just so beautiful in an effortless, whimsical, laissez-faire kinda way. My latest french crush is the pouty, curvacious Emmanuelle Béart. The film that made her famous in France was Manon of the Spring (1986), in which she played the role of a blonde shepherd dancing nude in the fields. Her most famous film is La bell noiseuse (1991) directed by Jacques Rivette and also starring the famous Jane Birkin.
She is an extremely sensitive perfectionist, she took violin lessons for a year for a role and is very politically active in France, fighting for the rights of immigrants. She is just so deeply enchanting on so many levels. She is such a woman! She really makes me want to embrace my own curvy figure rather than strain to be Moss skinny.

The Wild.

Despite that I have only recently returned from a pretty intense travel extravaganza, I already feel the stirring in me to get out and explore again. I have not been at 100% for a while now and I think I have been spending too much time in doors. I need to get out on the wind, in the water, on the earth. Run and dance and climb and swim and breathe. I really love being out in the wild, surrounded in nothing but nature. It always blows my mind and puts everything in perspective. There is so much out there happening all the time. I want to be everywhere. I want to be there.

"I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes." - e.e. cummings

"Forget not  that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair."
- Khalil Gibran

"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." - Aristotle

"I believe in God, only I spell it Nature." - Frank Lloyd Wright

"Just living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower."
- Hans Christian Anderson

Douces Mélodies.

I cannot get enough of Françoise Hardy. I have been listening to her records non-stop lately. She has this gentleness about her that I just love and admire. Even my cats are mesmerized by her voice. I have read that she is very shy and very uncomfortable in the spotlight. I think that shyness is what keeps her from being pretentious or acting like something she's not. I just find myself drawn to her, I identify with her. Plus it really helps with my french skills to try to translate all of her lyrics. She is a gorgeous, unassuming, angelic soul. Je t'aime Françoise!

"I was for a very long time passionately in love with her, as I'm sure she's guessed. Every male in the world, and a number of females also were, and we all still are." -David Bowie on Françoise Hardy

Moonrise Kingdom.

I am completely obsessed with Wes Anderson's latest film Moonrise Kingdom. It was such a whimsical, charming story. So beautifully shot, on 16mm I might add. I loved the music, the costumes, the set design, the acting, the camera movement. Wes Anderson always manages to find this wild balance between his love of the fantastical and his dry sense of humor. It always leaves me earning to read some prose and contemplate life and set out on a wild adventure. I plan to be doing a whole lot of both of those in eighteen days in Cape Cod. I plan on dressing with a 60s twist the entire time thanks to the lovely Suzy Bishop. I want to listen to french records and dance on the beach, read poems and fantastical novels, hike through the woods, sail around the harbor, jump off the rocks and go for a swim. So wonderfully inspired. Thanks Wes.

Never Say Never.

It's strange how we grow. I can recall writing a quote down in a moleskin a couple years ago:
"I don't do neon."
As the words left my mouth, I felt compelled to jot it down, the sentence somehow defined me. I've always been drawn to wearing black and other neutrals. I've never worn a lot of color, let alone neon. Fast-forward to now, as my life is blooming into a beautiful chapter, I find myself aching for neon accessories, hot pink lips, bold prints, fun colors...I want bright flowers and sunshine everyday! As I have grown I think I have stopped taking myself so dead serious all the time, I have embraced my sillier, whimsical side. It also helps that I have never been happier in my entire life! That definitely  inspires me wanting rainbows draped around me at all times. This once dark little seed is blossoming into a bright flower.
